Policy changes and updates

Discovery Calls

Before we can begin lessons, you will be offered the opportunity for a discovery call. This is a FREE online meeting, where we discuss your needs, answer questions and discuss how singing lessons work. The teacher will also be able to tell you whether our services are appropriate for your needs.

Discovery calls are a free service, and as such, cannot be rescheduled for any reason, so please choose your time carefully.

Joining the online call later than five minutes after it is scheduled to begin will result in the call being terminated, with no alternate time provided. If you would still like the opportunity to join VHVS, an online introductory lesson can be booked, which will incur a fee of $50.00, to be paid at least 24 hours prior to the lesson commencing.

If you are under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must attend the discovery call, or arrange a time to speak to me beforehand.

Pay as you go

You can pay for lessons weekly. Payment must clear 24 hours before your lesson time for that session to be considered booked, otherwise the session time may be released without notice.

10 lesson sets

10 lesson sets will include ONE free lesson. These sets must be paid for 24 hours in advance of your first lesson to qualify for this special offer.

Once you’ve booked and paid

You will be sent a video link or location information for your lesson. Please arrive to your lessons on time as lessons cannot run over time and lesson times cannot be changed last minute. If a student is late by 15 minutes, the lesson is considered cancelled. Lessons that have already begun cannot be refunded or rescheduled.

Please supply your current email and phone number so we can send invoices and communicate quickly in an emergency. If you wish to update your information, please email victoria@victoriahollings.com.

Lesson holds

Sometimes life means that lessons need to be put on hold for a period of time. Lessons that have been pre-purchased can be put on hold for a maximum of three months. Lessons must be used within this time or they will no longer be valid, and new lessons must be purchased in order to continue.

Covid-19 requirements

According to the Ministry of Business, teaching music from a residential property falls under ‘Extracurricular education services (including tutoring and music lessons)' which does not require vaccine passports to operate. Masks are encouraged, but not required. Every attempt will be made to ventilate the area and social distance during lessons.

Late fees

As of January 1st, 2022, all invoices that are not paid within 24 hours of a lesson taking place will incur a $25 late payment fee. This will be issued as a separate invoice.

If the original invoice and late fee invoice are not completed within 24 hours of receiving the late fee invoice, lessons will be terminated and your lesson time will be released without notice.

Online lessons

For online lessons you will need two devices - one to run zoom and one to play any backing tracks if needed. A phone or tablet, and a computer/laptop is best.

When using Zoom, please set your ‘Suppress Background Noise’ setting to low. This is important as Zoom often obscures singing and high pitched sounds. If you need help doing this, please email me victoria@victoriahollings.com.

Cancellation/Rescheduling

If you need to change your lesson time, please get in touch as soon as possible via text or email. If you cancel your lesson at least 24 hours before your lesson is scheduled to begin, you will be offered a make-up session or the payment will be transferred to your next session. Any cancellations after this are not eligible for a refund.

If you need to cancel a lesson, students must book a make-up session within seven days of the missed session. This may mean that you have two lessons in one week. Once a make-up session is scheduled, it cannot be rescheduled for any reason.

Repeated missed lessons (where you miss your lesson and don’t book a make-up session or don’t agree to forfeit the session payment) will result in losing your regular lesson time slot, without notice.

If I (the teacher) am unavailable at your regular lesson time, another lesson time will be offered at a time that suits you. I reserve the right to change lesson times without notice.

If a student is late by 15 minutes, the lesson is considered cancelled. Lessons that have begun cannot be refunded.

Sickness

Do not come to the studio when you are sick.

If I (the teacher) or you (the student) are unwell but are still able to have the session, these will be conducted online.

You cannot attend in-person lessons if you are unwell with any contagious illness or are showing any symptoms (this includes, but is not limited to Covid-19). If you are deemed by the teacher to be unwell when you arrive, your lesson will be cancelled and the lesson will not be eligible for a refund.

In the event of a lockdown in Auckland, all lessons that are taught in person will be taught via Zoom. Online students will continue as scheduled. Clients are not eligible for refunds due to Covid-19 related events.

Payment for lessons

A student is not enrolled until payment has been made. Lessons must be paid for in advance by at least 24 hours. These can be paid in ten week blocks in order to receive one free lesson. All lessons are charged in New Zealand dollars.

Payment can be made online via bank transfer, through Stripe or in cash. Please note, if you pay via bank transfer, payments are subject to bank clearance times.

If you wish to pay as you go, each lesson must be paid (with payment cleared) 24 hours in advance of your scheduled lesson time. Proof of payment is required before lesson can begin. Once tuition is paid, it cannot be refunded.

If a student's payment is not received 24 hours before their lesson time, their lessons may be cancelled and their time slot given to another student.

Medical clearance

When you are taken on as a student of Victoria Hollings Vocal Studio, it is under the assumption that you have been physically and mentally cleared and confirmed well by a healthcare professional to participate in singing lessons. This is the responsibility of the student or parent. If it is recommended that you see a medical professional at any time, by a teacher or other medical professional, lessons may be suspended until such time that the medical event has resolved or you have been cleared to continue.

Operating hours

The studio is closed for two weeks over Christmas and New Year. Dates will be sent out via email of studio closure and reopening.

Privacy

Your information will not be shared with third parties.

Recording

You are not permitted to record lessons or distribute the resources given to you during lessons unless given permission in writing from Victoria Hollings directly.

Competition winners

Congratulations if you have won one of our offers. All complimentary lessons are governed by the terms outlined in this policy.

The student must attend the specified time agreed once the winner is announced. If no time can be agreed upon, the winner forfeits the prize and is due nothing further in any form. No make up lessons will be offered if there are any missed sessions for any reason. One no-show on a lesson without 24 hours notice will void all subsequent lessons.

Referral Discount Program

Thank you for referring a friend to the studio.

If you refer a friend to the studio and they book in for at least one singing lesson, you will receive 10% off your next invoice. You will receive the discount once your referral has paid for their invoice and completed the session.

These lessons are subject to all clauses in this studio policy, including being non-refundable.
